BEFORE vinyl INSTALLATION
In your rooms receiving new vinyl floors, it’s important to remove all furniture, unplug all electronics, take down all wall hangings, and empty out the closets as well. Since luxury vinyl can often be installed over existing flooring, the old floors may not need to be removed completely and properly disposed of! Once the subfloor has been assessed by your installers, and any imperfections have been repaired, you are cleared for vinyl installation. We recommend completing any painting touch-ups in the room before your new vinyl goes down. Also, your installer will recommend the best luxury vinyl installation method such as glue-down or floating floor based on your specific rooms and subfloor conditions.
DURING vinyl INSTALLATION
On the day of your new vinyl installation, it’s important to be home to answer any questions from your installation crew and help troubleshoot any problems that arise. Designate a specific area in the home for your vinyl installers to keep potentially dangerous tools such as saws and hammers, and to cut pieces as needed. Make sure to keep kids and pets away from the rooms receiving new vinyl, and from the installer’s work area. Depending on the number of rooms that get new luxury vinyl and the installation method used, installation will often take only 1 day!
AFTER vinyl INSTALLATION
It’s also important to observe some practices after your new vinyl installation is finished. If your new luxury vinyl is installed as a floating floor, it is most likely ready for light traffic right away! If your new vinyl is glued to the subfloor, you will need to wait at least 24 hours or until your laminate installers specify before walking on it. Certainly wait at least 24-48 hours before returning your furniture onto the new luxury vinyl. It's also important to put felt furniture pads under the legs of heavier pieces. Always lift furniture entirely or use proper moving equipment with rollers.
